What Are Your Resolutions for 2025? Here’s 3 Key Game-Changers

Me enjoying a simple day at the lake! Where's your happy place?

How do you feel about the goals you’ve set for your life?

Do you feel happy about your progress?

Personally, I’m pretty cynical about New Year’s resolutions. I always thought they were a joke.

Because if I haven’t started working towards my goal yet, what makes me think “2025” is gonna be the “magic year?”

Like, “This is the year, guys! This is the year I’m going to get a six-pack and make a million bucks!!”

How cheesy! Right… Right?

Well, no. I’m not right. Not this year.

This year, I’m looking at New Year’s resolutions as more than just a promise to make myself feel better.

It’s a chance to unapologetically shake things up and do things differently—even if that means stepping out of my comfort zone.

Resolutions don’t have to be perfect. Nobody’s an overnight success.

Baby steps…

Like, for example, this blog post.

I’m going to be vulnerable and admit that it’s my very first one!

We all gotta start somewhere, OK?

I just want to say this: pressuring yourself—or anyone else—to make positive changes in 2025 probably won’t work.

Getting motivated can be really tough sometimes. Nobody changes unless they want to, and that includes you.

It’s always easier to do what’s comfortable and easy.

But when you experiment with healthy habits, you notice how good those positive choices make you feel afterward.

And then—you start getting addicted to the good feelings that come from doing the right things.

That’s when the changes start to feel easier and easier, until eventually, it becomes harder to live without those healthy habits in your life!

What do you want to change in your life this year?

I want to share a few ideas with you—resolutions that could make 2025 your most transformed year yet.

It’s stuff that improves the quality of life to make you a happier person, not stuff that increases the burden.

And it’s stuff I’ve already tested out.

It’s just a question of whether you’re willing to give ’em an honest try, stumble, and try ’em again, until they become a comfortable addition to your routine.

That’s been my experience.

So far, it’s gotten me to start this website, play live music on stage, and even publish a book!

Let Go of Comparison with the Help of “Let Them” Theory

If you’re tired of comparing yourself to other people’s seemingly perfect lives or feeling drained by the negativity around you, this is the year to let that go.

I’ve been listening to the audiobook Let Them by Mel Robbins.

Mel’s tools help you stop obsessing over what others are doing and refocus your energy on your own life.

  • Worried somebody thinks you’re showing off on social media? Let them.
  • Is someone ranting about their incredibly offensive opinions? Let them.
  • Did someone close to you decide they’d rather spend ALL their free time with someone else, instead? Let them.
  • Is someone out there succeeding at something you wanted to do / should have done 10 years ago? Let them.

Let them so that you can let yourself take new action in your own life.

When you stop worrying about what you can’t control and start empowering yourself, you’ll be amazed at how much lighter and more capable you feel.

Write with No F-ing Filter! Start a Daily Journal.

Journaling is extremely healthy.

It’s not just for little girls to write about their secret crush. It’s for adults in all walks of life – men and women.

It’s a safe place to dump all the random, crappy thoughts cluttering your mind—dark emotions, nagging worries, and genius ideas.

It creates mental space. It gets rid of intrusive thoughts and nonsense ringing between your ears all day.

It’s also a valuable tool for self-therapy…

Journaling Exercise Idea: Try writing a fake “Dear _____” letter to a person who pisses you off.

It feels great! You can curse inappropriately out of anger. How often do you get to do that in real life?
Pro tip: Keep your journal locked! (You’ll thank me later.)

I learned the life-changing habit of journaling from a book called The Artist’s Way, used by famous artists and successful business owners worldwide.

It was recommended to me by my friend, Mingo, an incredible musician who spreads joy and inspiration throughout Sussex County, NJ. (Seriously, check out his band!)

Here’s the best part: journaling also unleashes creativity you didn’t even know you HAD!

That’s right – put some leaves on that little rascal, because your creative projects are gonna grow!

Test this one out on your own. Do a 7-day free trial, and I guarantee you’ll start seeing improved creativity.

P.S. The free trial is actually infinite, because all you need is a pencil, paper, and self-motivation.

Get Active Every Day (Even for Just 20 Minutes)

Shocker! You’ve never heard this advice before, have you?

Feeling stuck in winter depression? Well, in case someone hasn’t nagged you about this enough…

NEWSFLASH: Our bodies weren’t meant to sit inside – with no sun – at desks all day… and then crash on the couch all night. And it’s affecting our mental health.

Exercise is one of the big secrets to getting out of seasonal depression.
Just dress warm, eat well, sleep, and ease into it… so you don’t get sick while you’re at it!

Small steps can make a big difference, no matter where you’re starting from.

The best thing is a heart-pumping workout – but even if it’s just a brisk walk around your neighborhood, or even a long dance session in your living room, physical activity has a massive impact on both your mental and physical health.

You can always come up with reasons you CAN’T. This year, come up with why you CAN!

And then… FEEL the difference. Did your anxiety go down after that nice long walk?
Did you sleep better that night?
Pay attention!

What does ‘stepping out of your comfort zone’ look like to you?

Why is stepping out of the ‘comfort zone’ so friggin’ hard?

Let me give you an example of something that’s hard for me: Posting on my personal social media accounts.

As someone who’s worked in social media marketing for years, I started feeling like posting for myself wasn’t worth the effort any more.

It felt phony—why share my personal life on the internet? Who do I need to impress?

But now, my perspective is shifting.

At the time, I felt like, “No one really cares about my life, so why try?”
Well, that’s just another way of saying that I wished people would care about my life.

It got to the point where I didn’t share anything good that happened to me. I would never celebrate my wins.
But sharing our lives with others is what makes it worth living, and I was in denial about how my silence is impacting my personal and business life.
Is this you, too?

Positive Affirmation: In 2025, I want to change my negative beliefs about social media and use it for something bigger.

It’s not about “likes” or showing off. It’s about connection.

It’s about sharing passions, ideas, and creativity in a way that might inspire others.

It’s about giving myself a voice in a world that’s increasingly digital and remembering that sharing is one of the ways we keep in touch—when it feels like no one picks up the phone to reach out anymore.

For me, 2025 isn’t just about setting goals; it’s about saying, Yes, I’m here. I’m ready to show up as myself, fully.

Side note: The world feels crazy, and it makes it hard to focus.

Honestly, it’s been this way as long as I can remember.

And it’s probably going to get weirder and crazier.

In times like these, I see two options:

We can either hide from the chaos… or shine as brightly as we can, using our unique talents and the love in our heart to contribute something meaningful.

I’m choosing not to hide, but to live to the fullest with love—and that’s my biggest resolution for 2025.

Here’s how I’m putting that into action:

  • No more downplaying my creative projects: If I’m proud of it, I’m sharing it!
  • No more waiting for others to reach out first: I’m responsible for my relationships with others.
  • No more hiding my feelings and thoughts: Vulnerability is powerful, even if it really hurts sometimes.
  • Yes to eating cleaner, not giving in to sugar, and exercising daily for 1 hour: Because fueling my body properly helps fuel my endeavors, too.

Most of all: Yes to taking personal responsibility for my role in the world.
Because simply complaining about how broken the world is or dwelling on all the suffering only drains my energy and leaves me feeling powerless.

Instead, I want to focus on what I can do—showing up, taking action, and being a force for positive change, no matter how small my contribution may feel.

So, here’s to 2025: A year of owning my voice, stepping out of old patterns, and embracing all the good things waiting to be created and shared.

What about you? What’s your dream vision stepping into 2025?

Let’s inspire each other and make it amazing!
